Hiking in Pine Mtn

What to do with a free afternoon with no football practice??? Go hiking of course....I know that sounds crazy but it was very relaxing. We decided to head down to Pine Mtn. via a ton of back woods dirt roads (nothing like having the windows down going down dirt roads on a wonderful cool fall afternoon....I know I know I am sooo COUNRTY & proud of it!) We hiked one of our favorite trails the overlook pass & we had a great time. Maybe the next hike God will put on his beautiful display of fall color. Enjoy the pics :)

FRA C-Football 2009 GO CATS!!!

Well it's that time of year again...that's right FOOTBALL SEASON!! I don't know what it is but football season is soo much fun. There is just something about the coolness in the air, the sound of cheers & good old rivalry under lights.
This is Alex's 2nd year playing C-football & he loves every minute of it---these pics are from their 1st game against Heritage. FRA beat Heritage 8 to 0!!! GO CATS!!!

Yeap that's Alex #88 & he's running the ball!
Still runnin the ball

This is Dawson, Alex's teammate he broke his leg in practice :(
but he has been a real trooper!

Progress!!

We are making progress on the house--but if you know me well you know that I wanted it done yesterday! But considering everything that we have done, I think it is going beautifully! I am learning sooo much about construction & about myself all at the same time.
Here are some things that I have learned about myself & quite a few kinda scared me:
1) I am extremely impatient
2) I hate not being in control
3) I like things symmetrical
4) I hate when people make excuses
5) I like clean water & water pressure

I know it may sound crazy that I could realize these things about myself through construction & remodeling a house but sometimes God shows us things about ourselves through unexpected circumstances. Through all of this God is showing me how to give it all over to him & not sweat the small stuff (even though he cares about the small stuff too--he's got it in control & I don't have to be in control)! Enjoy the pics of the progress :)

I was all smiles when our new vanity arrived--got it on ebay!!

Father's Day on the Flint

We decided to go canoeing on the Flint River for Father's Day. And oh what a beautiful day it was! We all had a blast just being together as a family & enjoying what God created. Believe it or not none of us flipped, although there were a few times we got stuck on rocks. But for the most part it was just a lazy & relaxing day.

Welcome home Chad

After what seemed like forever Chad got to come home (for 2 weeks)! And it was awesome to welcome him @ the airport & spend time with him. Wow it is amazing to see Chad change before our eyes!!! We are all so proud of him & can't wait to watch & experience this new chapter in his life.

Demolition

This is not a good sign to find your well like this (notice the Clorox--NOT GOOD)!

Well a lot has been happening @ the house since my last post. We have been working our tails off trying to get one side remodeled before school starts back. But as you can tell by the photos it is quite the job & taking a little longer than anticipated. I mean I watch enough HGTV & it only takes them 1hr so I figured it would take us a little longer maybe 4 or 5hrs (HA HA HA just kidding)!!! We are having a blast doing this together as a family & we are learning soooo much (a lot more than a 1hr HGTV show can teach ya that's for sure)!!

New Chapter

As most of you know this past year has been a whirlwind to say the least! So I've decided to start a blog to keep everyone updated on the new chapter in our life. That new chapter that I'm talking about is our new home (well kinda new--this is the home I grew up in).
We finally sold our home in May--YEAH!! Now we are in the process of living in & remodeling, that's right LIVING IN & REMODELING our new place! Everyone knows that I'm a neat freak, my husband has been known to call me obsessive compulsive but that has definitely been thrown out the window! Even though things are a mess, contractors don't show up, measurements turn out wrong, plumbing doesn't work--we are truly blessed to have this opportunity to restore my childhood home & make new memories all of our own while remembering the past.

One of the first things we put up was the basketball goal.
Our new home.
